Tourists captain and right back, Mustapha Ibrahim has said his side are
yet to fill the void created by the departure of prolific striker and
top-flight reigning top scorer, Godwin Obaje.
Obaje
left the Bauchi Elephants at the end of the immediate past season to
pitch tent with the top-flights, FC IfeanyiUbah for the on-going
top-flight.
Ibrahim said his side hope to shop for lethal finishers during the on-going
mid-season transfer window.
“There is no replacement yet for the former top scorer, Godwin Obaje in the upfront.
“The vacuum he left in the team is unfilled as we speak and we still miss his service sorely.
“Of
course, for a team to gain confidence as well as stamp their authority
such a team must be able to score goals in their matches.
“We are not scoring goals in our matches and that is largely responsible for our poor form in the on-going top-flight.
“We
are hopeful that the coaches will cash in on the on-going mid-season
transfer window to find good strikers to help our campaign,” said the
former Nigerian junior international strongman to supersport.com.
Ibrahim said his side hope to turn visiting team, Gombe United into tourists in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 18 clash in Bauchi.
“It’s
a local derby not going to be easy for both sides but it’s a-must-win
match for us to improve on our poor form on the league table.
“We are not comfortable with our position on the log at the moment so we must fight hard to earn the maximum points.
“Gombe
United have good players but we can always match them in all areas, I
think the Gombe outfit are merely coming to Bauchi for tourism,” said
Ibrahim.

th
on the 20-team top-flight on 18 points 14 behind league leaders,
Plateau United with a game to spare at champions, Enugu Rangers.
