KCCA edge El Masry in Confed tie |
Platinum Stars' Caf Confederation Cup campaign is hanging in the balance after a 2-0 first leg play-off round defeat to Tanda at the Stade Robert Champroux on Sunday.
Stars had their moments in front of goal, but it was the home side who were more clinical on the afternoon as they took a 2-0 advantage into the second leg tie.
Tanda dropped into the Confederation Cup after being eliminated from the Champions League (with a 5-1 aggregate loss to Etoille du Sahel), while Dikwena had earned their spot after beating Uniao Desportiva do Songo 2-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round.
Stars coach Cavin Johnson elected to field several non-regular first team players in his team and after a cautious start from both sides in Abidjan, Stars had Kamusoko goal downs MC Alger

It was the Ivory Coast champions who were to draw first
blood, when Kevin Zougoula beat Cyril Chibwe from the penalty spot after Isaac Nhlapo was ruled to have handled in the box.
The game remained tightly-contested before and after the half-time break.
Dikwena had to wait until the 75th minute for a clear opening, but after Ndumiso Mabena had played a defence-splitting through-ball to Sipho Senne, the resultant shot hit the woodwork.
The miss was to prove costly when AS Tanda doubled their lead eight minutes from time after some sloppy defending by Stars.
The return game will take place in Rustenburg next week Sunday.
