Jose Mourinho says he is pleased after Manchester United "played with confidence" during their 4-0 opening weekend victory against West Ham.

Their Premier League campaign started with a
bang at Old Trafford, with new striker Romelu Lukaku scoring twice before Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba rounded off the win.
But Mourinho insists it was a tough match and praised his side for a strong performance that gave United their biggest win in the Premier League for nearly three years, when they also beat QPR 4-0 in September 2014.

"I don't think the game was 4-0 but you score the third and you breathe and relax and play with more confidence. It was a difficult game for us," he told Sky Sports.
"We didn't start especially well, maybe we were a bit nervous, but then we had a quality performance, good personality and word which I like: confidence.

"The team played with lots of confidence and even at 2-0 they were confident and kept playing football. I was happy and it was a very positive performance."
Manchester United have won more opening day games in Premier League history than any other side (17) and sit top of the league after the first round of matches for the second consecutive season, although Mourinho is not paying the position any attention.

"The fact we start with a win and are top of the league means nothing. Last season we were top after the first match so it means nothing," he added.

"The level of performance means something to me. We lost two points against West Ham last season here and had lots of similar matches where we were dominant but didn't score enough goals. Today we did and we got three important points."
