Lobi Stars striker Anthony Okpotu is close to scoring his 65th goal of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) since his debut in 2010.

Okpotu and his teammates are up for a very difficult trip to Calabar where they will go up against seven-time league champions Enyimba in a Matchday 30 fixture this Wednesday.

If the Lobi man gets among the goals in the contest with Enyimba then he would reach the 65-goal mark.

After his first season when he made a scoring debut against Niger Tornadoes in
a 2-1 win off an assist provided by Adamu Mohammed, Okpotu has always hit double figures in subsequent seasons.

In his first season in 2010/11, Okpotu scored eight goals and the next he improved on it by adding two more goals to his tally.
Okpotu, in the 2012/13 season, scored 10 goals again before leaving Lobi to join Libyan side Al-Ittihad in 2014.

He returned to the NPFL in 2015 after the unrest in Libya meant all foreign players departed the North African nation and re-joined Lobi Stars mid-way in their campaign. Okpotu ended the campaign with 15 goals.

Last season, Okpotu, nicknamed The Panther, scored 12 goals and this term he has netted 13 so far including two hat-tricks.

All of his previous 64 goals in the Nigeria top division has been for Lobi Stars.
