Mbaoma says no sell-out v MFM

Remo Stars striker, Victor Mbaoma has said outright that there will not be any betrayal in the South West derby against Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministries (MFM) FC.
The Sky Blue Stars are hosts of the Olukoya Boys in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) matchday 32 clash at the Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu.
Mbaoma said though the side further participation in the top-flight is more or less academic they still have
their pride and professional career to protect.
“There is purely nothing to play for except pride and professional career in the remainder of the on-going top-flight.
“With about seven matches left on the season’s calendar we are no more in doubt of our destiny in the league.
“However, we are determined to fight the course till the end of the season and to continue doing our very best in all the matches.
“Therefore any insinuation or talk of sell-out or betrayal in the clash against MFM FC is mistaken and unfair to us.
“Of course, we cannot cheaply give them the whole three points no matter the prompting as it’s never done in any professional setup.
“We are training very hard for the match and we will fight hard as if it’s a Cup final to earn the three points at stake,” said the Remo Stars marksman to supersport.com.
Mbaoma described as unfortunate that the side will be heading back to the lower division after a season’s stint in the premier league.
“It’s quite unfortunate that the team is going down into relegation after just a season in the top-flight.
“People are likely to say that we were not ready for the top-flight campaign but I think what happened to us could equally happens to any other side as far as football is concerned.
“It’s not really a nice story as the team’s drop to the lower league is certain to affect our market value negatively.
“We are just hoping for something divinely good upon us after the league season would have been completed,” said Mbaoma.
Remo Stars are at the bottom of the 20-team top-flight log on 29 points 26 behind league leaders, Plateau United.
