Hayes sets season-best with 400m victory

Quanera Hayes clocked the fastest 400m time in the world this year as she powered to victory at the US World Championship trials in Sacramento here Saturday.

Hayes stormed home in 49.72sec at Hornet Stadium to book her place in the US team for the August championships in London.

The 25-year-old's winning time beat Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo's season best of 49.77 set in the Shanghai Diamond
League meeting in May.
Phyllis Francis was second in 49.96 with Kendall Ellis third in 50.00.
