Chiejine eyes derby win v Heartland

Ann Agumanu-Chiejine

Abia Angels head coach, Ann Agumanu-Chiejine has said her side will claim their first points of the on-going top-flight against oriental neighbours and newcomers, Heartland Queens.

The Umuahia landladies will host debutants, Heartland Queens in Wednesday’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) matchday 2 derby clash at the Umuahia Township Stadium.

Chiejine said her side have corrected the mistakes that cheated the Umuahia
outfit a well-deserved win against top-flights, FC Robo Queens in NWFL matchday 1 clash last Wednesday.

“I have said it severally that any team that qualified to play in the premier league is not a push-over but a very good and sound team.

“We never regarded FC Robo Queens as pushovers even though we created several chances that would have given us the game.
“We have already marched ahead after the score draw, at least, we did not lose the match nor forfeited the whole points.

“We will fight hard to make it up with the oriental derby against Heartland Queens on Wednesday in Umuahia.
“Heartland Queens are debutants in the top-flight while we are spending our second season in the top-flight.

“We know very little of Heartland Queens but like I said early no team that plays in the premier league is a push-over.
“All the NWFL teams are good but the fact that we are older in the top-flight than Heartland Queens means that our experience will count for us.

“Hopefully, we will pick our first win of the season against Heartland Queens, we hope to raise our game to the highest height aimed at achieving the lofty goal.

“We have seen our mistakes in the game against FC Robo Queens and have worked on them, we believe the god of soccer coupled with our hard work will be on our side,” said the Super Falcons coach to supersport.com.

The former Nigerian shot stopper-tutored side shared the spoils with the Lagos outfit, FC Robo Queens in the NWFL matchday 1 clash last Wednesday in Umuahia.
