Federation Cup: Everton wary of Ifeanyi Ubah attackers
FC IfeanyiUbah coach Rafeal Everton has
disclosed that he has been working on his strikers’ ability to take their
chances as they take on Nasarawa United in today’s Federation Cup final at the
Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos. During their campaign in the Nigeria Football
Professional League, FCIU averaged one goal per game scoring 37 goals from 36
matches.
And in a Cup final where the winner is determined by the team with the
highest number of goals, the Club’s coaches have genuine cause to be worried.
fc-ifeanyi_ubah “Yes we have not been scoring many goals, but that’s football.
Sometimes you score a lot and sometimes you run dry of goals.
 We have been
working hard with our strikers during training sessions. Also we have been
working on attacking movements. “But we are also aware that this is a final and
that it can be decided by a single goal, so mental strength and team unity are
keys,” Everton told the club’s media on the eve of the Federation Cup final.
He
said the game will be balanced between his side and Nasarawa United. “Nasarawa
United are a very good team. We have played them twice already (in the NPFL)
and I watched them against Enyimba in Ibadan.
I respect them but we have a
game-plan which we will try to work at. We are well-prepared, and I believe it
is going to be a 50-50 game. I believe my team will come out victorious at the
end,” Everton said.
