Niger Tornadoes attacking winger, Wilfred Ammeh
has said his side are working tirelessly to improve greatly on perceived
shortcomings in the first stanza of the top-flight.
The Ikon Allah Boys are gearing up for the commencement of the second stanza of the league with a fixture at former champions, Kano Pillars in Kano on Sunday, May 21.
‘We won’t leave Ibadan empty-handed’
‘Tornadoes’ NPFL fourth spot massive’
Ammeh said the coaches have been sweating daily to work on the side’s scoring ability to make it top-notch before the second term starts.
“We have been working tirelessly to improve on our weak points especially in goal scoring as well as perfect and improve
on other areas for the start of the second term.
“We have equally been working out a perfect blend and understanding with the new players in our midst.
“At times we are in the classroom receiving tutorials on new football tactics and techniques.
“I think everything is going on perfectly well as we are determined to greatly improve our fortune in the second term.
“We will want to get more points both home and away so as to improve on our first term fourth finish.
“At the start of the season our main target was to finish among the top 10 bracket but the fourth finish has thrown up a new challenge for us in the second term.
“Of course, we will consider as unbefitting and failure any position lower than the first term fourth finish.
“We know the challenge in the second term will be stiff that’s why we are going the extra mile to steel ourselves and get ready for the contest,” said the Niger Tornadoes goal poacher to supersport.com.
Ammeh said Kano has always been a good harvesting ground for his side in the Nigerian top-flight.
“Last season the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano was the only place we got a point against Kano Pillars.
“We will go there this time around to cause further problem for the former champions when both sides meet next Sunday,” said Ammeh.
The Minna landlords are fourth on the 20-team top-flight on 30 points five behind league leaders, Plateau United.
