‘Tornadoes’ NPFL fourth spot massive’

 Niger Tornadoes attacking winger, Wilfred Ammeh has described as a massive achievement his side’s fourth-placed finish on the log at the end of the top-flight half hour mark.

The Ikon Allah Boys piped former champions, Kano Pillars 1-0 in the top-flight mid-term matchday 19 final clash in Lokoja to earn the fourth-placed finish.

Ammeh said his side will not go to sleep, but work even harder in the second stanza to achieve an improved performance.

“The fourth position on the log at the end of the first stanza of the league is quite a massive achievement for us.

“Everybody (management, fans, government) is happy with the performance. We, too are equally excited and happy with our performance.

“Actually, we truly worked for the enviable position
as we told ourselves at the start of the season that we would strive to finish among the top 10 teams in the first stanza.

“However, we know that the season has just seen off the first term. There is the decisive second term to play for so we are not going to sleep, but intensify our work rate to ensure we achieve a higher performance.

“Of course, we know the pressure will come in the second stanza as other teams will see us as a marked side.

“It calls for hard work on our part to be strong mentally and physically to be able to withstand the expected rigour.

“That’s part of the reasons we were given just four-day break to rest to return to camp to intensify preparation for the commencement of the second stanza.

“We will not go to sleep or over relax as we are undone with our target for the whole season,” said the Minna landlords’ goal poacher to supersport.com.

Tornadoes commenced a four-day break on Thursday to resume on Monday, when they will continue training for the second term due to kick-start on 7 May.

The Minna outfit finished the first term campaign on fourth spot with 30 points, five behind league leaders Plateau United.
