Ghana international Fatau Dauda has hit out at time-wasting tactics deployed by clubs in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

The goalkeeper is in his first season with former champions Enyimba International after a free agent switch from Ghanaian giants AshantiGold a few months ago.

Dauda recently courted trouble for an alleged assault on a ball boy during the Peoples Elephants’ 2-1 defeat at Katsina United.

He was charged with “aggression towards a ball boy” and subsequently got slapped with a one-match ban and a N50 000 fine.

Speaking to Joy Sports, the 32-year-old said: “Everybody has seen the video, I didn't punch the boy.”

"There’s one problem in their league which I think needs to
be addressed. They like wasting time, every player wastes time but it should be professional, even a ball boy wants to waste time because they are leading.

“We scored the first goal in the game which they equalised in the first half. Seven minutes to full time, they had their second goal and after that there was no ball on the field out of the eight balls used.”

“I was in haste to restart the game because there was more time only to see one ball boy who took the ball from the field. I struggled with him for the ball. He fell and dramatised the whole thing as if he had been hit hard,” Dauda explained.
