Amoo likes draw at Gombe Utd

Fatai Amoo

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) head coach Fatai Amoo has said he is pleased with the draw at Gombe United.

The Oluyole Warriors forced the Desert Scorpions to a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 13 clash at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe.

Samuel Agba scored the match opener from the spot for the Gombe outfit while the Ibadan landlords evened the score through substitute Nonso Mbakwe.

Amoo said he actually looked
forward to grab the side's first away victory at Gombe United.

“It’s a good away result, was not a bad one and we are quite pleased with the outcome even though we planned to earn our first away win in the clash.

“Actually, after the home draw against league leaders Plateau United in matchday 12 we grew in confidence that we could win matches anywhere.

“Yeah, it’s a good result considering the fact that the home side did everything humanly possible to claim the whole three points at stake,” said the former Sunshine Stars coach to supersport.com.

Amoo discountenanced the insinuation that his side appear to excel on the road rather than on home front.
“At home we play under severe pressures from the fans, which are not totally bad anyway but we have rookies who are yet to grow to the height to absorb the pressures.

“I know we are making progress and with time the players will be meeting the high expectations of the fans,” said the Nigerian under-23 assistant coach.

Amoo however predicts a difficult next home match against top-flight Abia Warriors.

“Our top scorer last season, Sunday Adetunji, is right now with Abia Warriors.

“His presence is certain to spur on the opponents, Abia Warriors, but we hope to prove our mettle.
“Abia Warriors are a solid side so we are expecting a difficult and tough match,” said Amoo.

3SC are 18th on the 20-team top-flight on 12 points, 13 behind league leaders Plateau United though with a game against champions Enugu Rangers.
