Niger Tornadoes attacking winger Wilfred Ammeh
has said that the side’s hard work paid off in the top-flight clash
against Sunshine Stars.
The Ikon Allah Boys defeated the Owena Waves 2-1 in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 15 clash at their adopted ground – Confluence Stadium in Lokoja.
A goal each off the foot of Jeremiah Gabriel and Lucas Yaya proved enough to hand the Minna landlords the three points, while
Kehind Adedipe scored the consolation for the Akure outfit.
Ammeh said his side were the better side, having missed two penalties but still going on to score two winning goals.
“Everybody is happy with the hard fought victory against Sunshine Stars.
“It’s a tough fight for us to miss two penalties to still come up with two good goals to win the clash.
“I think our hard work paid off quite well in the clash as Sunshine Stars throw in everything to earn a respectable result.
“Sunshine Stars came with a master plan to win and it was almost paying off for them before we scored the winner at dead of time.
“How else could one determine the better side than the drama of losing two penalties to still score two decent goals.
“We are clearly the better side and the win will act as a right boost to confront FC IfeanyiUbah in Nnewi,” said Ammeh to supersport.com.
Niger Tornadoes’ win against Sunshine Stars takes their total earnings to 24 from a possible 45 points in the 15-week-old top-flight.
