Nigerians impress in Norway

Chidiebere Nwakali


No less than 11 Nigerians are currently in the books of football clubs in Norway’s top flight (Eliteserien) and more than a few are doing impressive things there.
Chidiebere Nwakali is one of such players.

Born 20 years ago in Owerri, South East Nigeria, Nwakali was among the gifted collection of youngsters (which also included Kelechi Iheanacho Success Isaac) that won the Fifa Under-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

On Saturday, Nwakali struck the winner after just two minutes for Sogndal in their 1-0 success over Aalesund at Fosshaugane Campus.

Nwakali who was scoring for the first time in the Norwegian top flight this term however saw his joy dampened as he received the marching orders, seven minutes
from the end.

Shalodze Udodji Chikozie is another Nigerian doing impressive things in the Eliteserien.
The 30-year-old Nigerian-born forward who carries a Bulgarian passport struck in the 32nd minute for Lillestrøm in the 2-0 win over Strømsgodset at Åråsen Stadion (Kjeller) on Saturday.

It was his second league goal of the season. 
  Samuel Adegbenro, Tagbajumi Marco, Chidera Ejuke, June Izuchukwu Anthony and Bonke Innocent are some of the other Nigerians campaigning for different clubs in the Eliteserien.

The list is completed by Shuaibu Ibrahim, Ifeanyi Matthew, Anthony Ikedi, Unachi Ekpe and Usman Sale.
