Alves won the Serie A and Coppa Italia during his first season in Italy and also helped Juventus reach the Champions League final in Cardiff, where they were beaten 4-1 by Real Madrid.

The 34-year-old has previously worked with Guardiola at Barcelona, spending four years at the Nou Camp under the Spaniard's tutelage.

Guardiola is also looking into alternative full-back options, including Benjamin Mendy (Monaco), Kyle Walker (Tottenham Hotspur) and Ryan Bertrand (Southampton).
