Enyimba's form is irrelevant against Rangers, warns Kester
The People's Elephants meet the NPFL champions this
weekend, but the midfielder knows when they take to the pitch, their
current run would be the least to count
The reigning Nigerian champions are currently struggling
in the domestic scene, as they are rooted to the foot of the table.
While Enyimba have picked up seven points from a possible nine in their previous three matches.
“Well, we are having a good run of form at the moment. We narrowly lost to a very late goal to Wikki Tourist in Bauchi but in derbies, form is irrelevant,” Kester told Goal.
“They are having a bad patch at the moment but it’s a fact that they are the defending champions, so yes, they’ve got an equal chance to win the game.
“Enyimba and Enugu Rangers are two of the biggest clubs in Nigeria, we are simply going to try and win the game so we can continue our climb to the top of the table and not focus on compounding their woes.”
Kester will miss the big clash this weekend due to a minor knock he received in the last match, but he is optimistic that he will be back when Enyimba make the trip to Katsina next week.
“It's a minor injury. A Wikki Tourist player stepped on my ankle, I think I'll miss this weekend's match but I should be back to full fitness next week," he added.
“The healthy competition for places in the team has really helped improve performances this season, but I think there's always room for more improvement."
