English Football League (EFL) Two side Notts County FC have signed Nigerian striker Shola Ameobi for the rest of the season.
The 35-year-old forward sealed a short term deal with The Magpies.
Ameobi said joining the League Two outfit is "a huge honour" and believes his experience of playing in the top-flight and on the international will be advantage to Notts County.
"I feel I can use my experience to help the club on and off the pitch and the manager will value that. It's all about playing - that's all that matters. Regardless of who you play, you
still get the same buzz and the adrenaline still pumps.
"I'm really excited to get back playing again and hopefully we can start off with a win," Ameobi told the club's website.
Interestingly, Ameobi will work with his former Newcastle United teammate Kevin Nolan, who is now manager at Notts County.
Nolan offered kind words about the Nigerian forward and revealed that he had been training with the under-23s of Newcastle for the past six months before a deal was put in place.
"Shola is a great lad and he has kept himself in great shape by training with Newcastle's Under-23 side for the last six months. I'm delighted we have been able to get the deal done."
Ameobi made 298 appearances in the English Premier League and scored 43 goals. His last club was League One side Fleetwood Town.

"It's a huge honour for me to join a club like this, one of the founder members of the Football League. I know the manager and Alan Smith very well from our days at Newcastle so it has been great to join up with them again.9?? | #Notts have confirmed the signing of Shola Ameobi - and he's on the bench today! https://t.co/LEEtzwvbRT pic.twitter.com/9CKz4qWHpa— Notts County FC (@Official_NCFC) February 4, 2017
