Xolisani Ndongeni

Former IBO lightweight champion Xolisani Ndongeni from the Eastern Cape received the Boxing SA Male Boxer of Year Award at an evening of glamour and glitz at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre in Durban on Friday night.

The 26-year-old Ndongeni, who is also a former South African junior lightweight and lightweight champion, had two fights in 2016, a first round stoppage win over Emilio Norfat and a ten-round points victory over Juan Garcia Mendez in America to take his unbeaten record to 22-0.
The Male Fight of the Year award went to Simphiwe Khonco and Hekkie Budler with Budler retaining his WBA and IBO strawweight titles in a closely fought contest at Emperors Palace near Kempton Park in September 2015.

The Female Boxer of the Year award went to Buliwe Nonina.

The Female Fight of the Year award went to Sharodien
