Former Kano Pillars captain dies

Former Kano Pillars captain and goalkeeper Ali Mohammed, also known as Ali Zoff or Dino Zoff has passed on, according to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club.
Mohammed died in the early hours of Monday after falling ill and has since been buried according to Islamic rites in the city of Kano.
"Kano Pillars Football club has expressed deep shock over the death of its former captain and goalkeeper trainer, Ali Mohammed, who passed on, on Monday.

-time FC Taraba goalkeeper trainer popularly known as Ali Zoof died in the earlier hours of Monday. Ali died at the aged of 50, after a brief sickness," Kano Pillars announced on Monday evening.
Mohammed was Kano Pillars goalkeeper between 1990 and 2004 before he was named captain of the Kano club in 2000.
He also worked as goalkeeping coach at FC Taraba when Salisu Yusuf was head coach at the time.
The former Kano Pillars man played alongside the likes of Imama Amapakabo, Ahmed 'Yaro Yaro' Garba, Kabiru Baleria and Manu Garba during his time at Kano Pillars.
Mohammed earned his nickname after former Italy international goalkeeper Dino Zoff for his heroics between the sticks for Kano Pillars during his playing days.
