Troops kill 30 terrorists in filed ambush, arrest fake officer
The Chairman Caretaker Committee of Gwoza Local Government Council, Hon Saeed Salisu Sambo, who was in the convoy disclosed that the terrorists detonated Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and followed with sporadic gun shots, which was immediately repelled by the gallant troops.
The troops pursued and dealt with the armed attackers with military precision.
Saeed who was full of praises for the Nigerian troops told PRNigeria that no life was lost on the side of the troops and civilians.
He said: “I must commend the gallantry of the troops led by the duo patrol commanders of the 121BN Captain S. Suleiman and Lt. N. Ayuba.”
Some soldiers who were injured during the encounter are presently receiving medical attention at Brigadier Maimalari Barracks Hospital.
An emergency worker, who pleaded anonymity, also confirmed counting the bodies of about 30 Terrorists killed after the encounter.
Meanwhile, as part of efforts to ensure a crime-free environment within FCT and its environs, troops of Guards Brigade arrested one 39 year old impostor named Miss Gumel Juliana at Dutse Alhaji, Bwari Area Council of FCT on November 24, 2016, at about 1415hrs (2:15 pm) who has been parading herself as a Major serving with the Nigerian Army Medical Corps.
Preliminary investigations and search conducted at her residence revealed that her real name is Jummai Ann Ayuba born in December 1973 (42 years old) and a mother of three year old boy named Dominion.
More so, she was discovered to own and run an unregistered and unlicensed El-sone clinin and maternity located at Bmuko Village by Tipper Garage, Dutse, off Bwari Expressway, FCT since November 2014 as a fake doctor where she also lives in a makeshift room.
After a thorough search of the impostor, some military items were recovered from her.
It was revealed that the impostor is from Kaduna State and she procured the Nigerian Army Identity Card at a business centre and claimed to have been given the uniform, rank and name tag from a source yet to be confirmed.
The impostor’s house and clinic have been sealed off as a crime-scene and for public health safety pending handover of the impostor and case to the Nigeria Police at the end of the investigation.
However, the news of the impostor that went viral on social media on the claims that she was arrested along Keffi-Abuja Road with children strapped with bombs is totally false, the Nigerian Army said.
Also, the concocted story that some of the strapped children have been drafted to specific targets at markets and motor parks in Abuja to detonate the bombs is not true.
