The governor also pledged the continuation of the cooperation between the state and all trade unions.
Ambode spoke at the 2015 Lagos State
Productivity Order of Merit Awards in Alausa, Ikeja, saying public
servants in the state had helped his administration.
Ambode, who was represented at the event
by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tunji Bello, noted that
harmonious labour relations among all unions in the service was being
nurtured and sustained through the State Public Service Joint
Negotiating Council.
“The giant strides achieved so far by
the present administration are as a result of the synergy and
cooperation between the government and the public service system,” the
governor added.
Ambode said the awards given to the
employees were another opportunity to celebrate the state public service
for its efficient and effective interpretation of government policies.
“I want the recipients to note that the
awards are a call to action for you to raise the bar of performance and
continue to be role models for your colleagues and subordinates in
carrying out your functions as public servants in Lagos State,” he said.
The Head of Service, Mrs. Olabowale
Ademola, said the award symbolised recognition and was meant to spur
public servants to higher productivity.
Bello later presented awards of
excellence to the 18 recipients. He was assisted by other dignitaries,
including the Representative of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Yetunde
Odejayi; and Chairman of the House of Assembly Committee on
Establishment, Training and Pensions, Adebayo Famakinwa.
