The Administrative Secretary of the
Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti State, Mr. Muslim
Omoleke, who was kidnapped the some gunmen at around Iwaraja, Osun State
on Thursday, has been released.
The Commissioner of Police in Osun
State , Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, said this while speaking with our
correspondent in Osogbo on the telephone on Friday evening.
His release came barely 24 hours after he was abducted and whisked away to an unknown destination,
The CP said, “I am happy to let you know that the gentleman has been freed and united with his family.”
The CP did not give detailed
information about how Omoleke was freed, but said the command would soon
issue a statement on the incident.
Omoleke was reportedly abducted at
around Iwaraja in Osun State on Thursday while traveling to Osun State
from Akure, the Ondo State capital .
The INEC boss was said to be traveling
in his official car with his daughter and driver when the gunmen stopped
them and took him away.
The driver and the daughter were later dropped, but their phones were reportedly taken away by the gunmen.
