Kidnappers of Rivers APC chieftain demand N100m

Friday Amobi, Port Harcourt
The gunmen, who kidnapped a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Nnamdi Abbah, in Rivers State on Tuesday last week, have demanded N100m as ransom.

Abbah, a former caretaker committee chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, was whisked away by the kidnappers at gunpoint from Alakahia axis of East-West road in Obio/Akpor LGA, around 8p.m.
A source in the family said that the family members were worried because after the demand of ransom, the contact of the bandits had not been connecting.

He said that as things stand, the family could not tell if Abbah was alive.

He explained that the concern was because the APC chieftain was not in good health at the time he was abducted and might not be able to stand the harsh treatment he was likely to get.

The source said, “It is over three days after the kidnappers reached the family and demanded N100 million. We have not heard from them again.

“We are worried because after the first contact was made with the abductors, every effort to reach them has not worked. The number they used has not been going. We are afraid that he may have died.”

He, however, begged the kidnappers to release Abbah unconditionally, adding that there was no money in the family.
