80 women elected into Morocco’s parliament
It said in a statement on Wednesday in Rabat that after the collation of the results, 60 women MPs have been elected from the national lists, while another 20 secured their seats after competing in local and youth lists.
It said that the PJD political party led Friday’s polls, by securing 125 seats out of 395, and its main rival PAM won 102 seats, while the Istiqlal party took 46.
A source noted that while the number of women MPs has increased from 67 to 80, it is still below the aspirations of feminist movement in the country.
