Mane then came to his side's rescue in the 73rd minute of Liverpool's 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace, scoring the only goal of the game to hand Jurgen Klopp's side a first Anfield victory of the season.
It
was then on to a highly-anticipated Anfield clash against Arsenal, a
game in which Liverpool showcased their newly-formed attacking trio of
Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah.
All three got their names on the scoresheet and heaped the pressure on Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, helping Liverpool to a comprehensive 4-0 victory, with Mane also chosen as the man of the match.
The
Senegal international picks up the award having fended off competition
from Phil Jones, Romelu Lukaku, Henrikh Mkhitaryan [Manchester United],
Alvaro Morata [Chelsea], Jonas Lossl [Huddersfield] and Liverpool
team-mate Salah.
This is the first time Mane has picked up a
Premier League Player of the Month award since his move to England from
Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg in September 2014.
