Ojo, who came through the youth ranks at Sunshine Stars before leaving for Sudan last year, was hooked in the NPFL mid-season transfer window alongside Benin Republic defender
Durand Thuram Gerald, Michael Okoyoh, Jolly Osas and Ezekiel Thompson.
"Sunshine Stars FC officially announce the return of academy alumnus Dayo Ojo and capture of highly-rated rock solid defender Durand Rock Thuram Gerald in what has been a busy mid-season transfer window for the team ahead of the second half of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season," Sunshine Stars confirmed on Thursday.
Ebitimi Agogu and ThankGod Ike are the other new-signings by the Akure club.
Ojo is however not the only player returning to the Akure club as they prepare for the business end of the season, which begins this weekend.
Defenders Seun Olulayo and Isaac Hele Hele have also returned to sign for the Akure Gunners after stints with Abia Warriors and El-Kanemi Warriors respectively.
Last month, the club hooked former Nigeria head coach Austin Eguavoen and former international goalkeeper Ike Shorunmu and they have helped steer Sunshine Stars out of the drop zone so far.
Sunshine Stars will play hosts to Lobi Stars this Sunday.
