There will be three WBO title fights at the
StubHub Center in Carson, California on Saturday night, with Mexico’s
Oscar Valdez defending his WBO featherweight belt against the
hard-hitting Miguel Marriaga in the main event.
The 26-year-old Valdez, who has a record of 21-0; 19, won the vacant WBO belt in July last year when he stopped Matias Carlos Adrian Rueda in the second round and then made a successful defence four months later when he won on a seventh-round technical knockout over Hiroshige Osawa.

Valdez was an outstanding amateur representing Mexico at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. He did not win a medal at the Olympics but in more than 200 amateur fights he won a number of medals in international bouts.
Miguel Marriaga, 30, who has a record 25-1; 21, will be having his second crack at trying to win a world title. In June 2016 he lost on points to Nicholas
Walters in a challenge for the WBA featherweight belt.
This is a good match-up with both fighters having high percentage knockout records, but the classy Valdez could win on a hard-earned points decision or a late stoppage.
Gilberto Ramirez (34-0; 24), another quality fighter from Mexico, should have enough to keep his WBO super-middleweight belt against the southpaw Max Bursak (33-4-1; 15) from the Ukraine.
The third title bout on the bill features Las Vegas southpaw Jessie Magdaleno (24-0; 17) defending his WBO junior featherweight belt against the rugged Brazilian Adeilson Dos Santos (18-2; 14).
Also on the bill is the southpaw Shakur Stevenson, a silver medallist at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil, who meets Edgar Brito (3-2-1; 2) in his professional debut. The bout is at featherweight and scheduled for six rounds.
