The scores were 120-108, 118-110 and 116-112. After a slow start the southpaw Ndongo 22-0; 11 using his height and reach kept Burns 41-6-1; 14 a three-weight world champion on the back-foot.

The stronger Ndongo, 34, used his power through most of the round
s to break down the 34-year-old Burns who spent most of the time on the defensive and could hardly get into the fight.

Burns tried to rally at times but was weary of the Namibian’s power.

A top line fight in the junior-welterweight division would now see the WBA/IBF champion Ndongo take on the WBC/WBO champion Terrence Crawford.

On the undercard Charlie Edwards won the vacant British junior-bantamweight title with a unanimous 12 round points decision over Iain Butcher.

The scores were 120-109 and 120-108 twice.

Robbie Barrett beat Scotty Cardle on a majority 12 rounds points decision to claim the British lightweight title.
The scores were 115-113, 114-112 and 114-114.
