‘NPFL top scorer possible’

Ubong Friday

Akwa United forward, Ubong Friday has enthused it’s quite possible he emerges top scorer of the on-going Nigerian top-flight.

The amiable striker hit Sunshine Stars’ back net twice in Sunday’s top-flight matchday 13 clash 3-1 win in Uyo.
Incidentally, the brace happens to be the lanky hitman first goals of the season for the Promise Keepers.

Friday said injury just slowed his
goal scoring prowess as there is nothing spectacular about his brace against the Owena Waves.

“There is nothing new or spectacular to scoring goals I have been doing the scoring with ease in the past just that injury has come to slow me down.

“The goals against Sunshine Stars happen to be my first for the side in the on-going top-flight.

“Prior to the commencement of the on-going league I promised the teeming fans to cap the season’s glory as the highest goal scorer.

“That dreamed promise is still alive even though I’m way behind in the pecking order at the moment.
“The league is still a marathon so nothing is concluded yet for any of the front runners.

“At least, I’m happy to be in fine form and started scoring so who knows I can still go ahead to end the season as top scorer,” said Friday to supersport.com.

The Uyo-based side are sixth on the 20-team top-flight log on 19 points six behind league leaders, Plateau United.
