Biffo wants Abia Warriors improvement

Abdullahi Biffo

Abia Warriors heach coach Abdullahi Biffo has bemoaned his team’s lack of cutting edge in away games in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season.

The Umuahia-based side have picked up only four points on the road; a win over Rangers and a draw at FC Ifeanyiubah, which does not sit well with Biffo.
With an away game at 3SC this Sunday, the former Niger Tornadoes coach believes his team need to start raking in the points if they are to achieve their aims this season.

“We have to start getting points on the road if we are to achieve our goals for the
season, which is to challenge for the title or a continental slot,” he told supersport.com.

“My team has been trying hard but it is evident we have to try harder. Our away form has not been good at all. We have to improve on that aspect of our game.
“Shooting Stars Sports Club are a good team, we respect them a lot but we also have our aims and that is to start getting points away.

“Our home form hasn’t been too bad even though we dropped points in Umuahia, but my major concern is our away form. We are working hard to re-position the team on the league table.”
Biffo also had good words for the organisers of the league, the League Management Company, insisting the league has improved over the years.

He also called on the LMC not to rest on their laurels as they seek to improve the NPFL and place it among the best on the African continent.
“The NPFL is getting better each year. I’m not saying it is perfect but significant progress has been made.

“There are still areas that need improvement but if we continue this way then we will definitely improve on the areas and aspects that need fixing.
"Areas like the welfare of coaches and players, facilities and youth developmental programmes should be worked on and improved. The officiating has improved too but more can be done to make it better.

“If we can do that then the NPFL will be the best in the continent,” he said.
Abia Warriors are currently ninth on the NPFL log with 18 points after 13 matches.
