Andrade wins WBA regular belt

Demetrius Andrade from America won the WBA “regular” junior middleweight belt when he beat Germany’s defending champion Jack Culcay on a 12-round split decision at the Friedrich-Ebert Halle in Ludwigshafen, Germany on Saturday night.

The taller Andrade built up an early lead but had to withstand a strong comeback
in the last round from Culcay.
The scores were 116-112 twice for Andrade and 115-113 for Culcay.

Andrade improved his record to 24-0; 16 and Culcay’s record dropped to 22-2; 11.

On the undercard super middleweight Leon Bauer (11-0; 8) beat Soso Abuladze (10-2-1; 7) on points over 10 rounds for the IBF Youth title.

In a junior featherweight bout Gamal Yafai (11-0; 4) outpointed Khvicha Gigolashvili (14-17; 3) over six rounds.
In a female super middleweight contest Nikki Adler (16-0; 9) won on a one-sided 10-round unanimous decision over Mery Rancier (7-8-3; 5) to claim the vacant IBF belt.

LEMIEUX WINS ON THIRD ROUND KNOCKOUT

In a clash of middleweight contenders former IBF champion David Lemieux (37-3; 33) won on a third round knockout over Curtis Stevens (29-6; 21) at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York on Saturday night.

Both fighters came out throwing bombs in the first round before Lemieux scored with a crushing left hook in the third round that left Stevens down and out.

NERY WINS WBC BANTAMWEIGHT ELIMINATOR

Number two rated Luis “Panterita” Nery (23-0; 17) won on a fifth-round technical knockout over number eight rated Jesus Martinez (23-2; 11) in a WBC bantamweight eliminator at the Arena Ciudad de México in Mexico City on Saturday night.
