Aluko scores as Fulham tame Preston

Sone Aluko

Omatsone Aluko scored to help Fulham beat Preston North End 3-1 in an English Championship match on Saturday.

The Nigerian winger put in a lively display that also included an assist as Fulham won comprehensively to move to within five points of the playoff places.

His goal in the 22nd minute of
the contest decided at Craven Cottage was brilliantly-taken.

Preston had given away a cheap throw-in on the near side and Stefan Johansen fed Kebano down the left who spun his man before drilling the ball backwards to Aluko.

The winger did not require a second invitation as he emphatically planted a first-time strike low inside the near post past the Preston goal keeper, Chris Maxwell.

Aluko provided the assist for Fulham’s second in the 77th minute, playing in the impressive Neeskens Kebano who struck unerringly to restore his side’s lead after Tom Barkhuizen had restored parity nine minutes later.

The Nigerian was not finished yet as he came close to completing his brace in the 81st minute but saw his magnificent curling effort well-saved by Maxwell.

Aluko has scored five goals in 33 appearances for Fulham this season.
