Enugu Rangers head coach, Imama Amapakabo says his side will go for an outright win against Algerian club, JS Saoura in Sunday’s Caf Champions League game in Enugu.
The first leg between the two clubs on February 10 ended in a 1-1 draw at the Stade 20 Août 1955, Béchar.
A scoreless draw on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu will see Rangers reach the next round of the competition but Amapakabo reckons adopting a defensive approach may be tantamount to sitting on a keg of gun powder.
”The most difficult thing to achieve in football is a draw.
“We need to score goals to be able to qualify and while we do that we must be
careful not to concede,” Amapakabo told supersport.com.
The youthful trainer then took the time to appeal to fans of Rangers to turn out in their numbers to cheer the side to victory.
“I saw massive support for Saoura in Algeria and I think Rangers and Rivers United, Nigeria’s two representatives in the Caf Champions League deserve the support of everybody if they are to succeed.
“I want to urge the fans to turn out in their numbers in Port Harcourt and Enugu to support the two sides on Sunday.
“JS Saoura are good side technically very accomplished.
“In that first leg, we had to be focused, keep clear heads and be able to switch tactics during the game.
“They will be a bit cautious in their approach on Sunday but then, they have nothing to lose so they will fight.
“I predict that they will try to play the ‘containment’ game,” he said.
