Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose has made a return to Scottish champions Celtic following the collapse of his move to English second tier side Blackburn Rovers.
The 28-year-old was holding out for a move to the English Championship in January before the deal fell through due to work permit issues.
Ambrose stated that he is ready to continue "working hard and training hard."
The former Kaduna United man claimed he has held talks with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers who has assured him that he needs to start playing to get a look-in.
“It’s difficult as a player you want
to play, but as you know football has its ups and downs you have good days and bad days.
“For me I keep working hard and training hard, I enjoy every moment I spend on the training field.
“The manager has told me, he has seen me he knows my quality and the kind of player I am, but the most important thing for me is to start playing so when I start playing he can see me in a different way,” Ambrose was quoted as saying by The Scotting Sun.
Blackburn Rovers manager, Tony Mowbray, hinted that the deal for Ambrose will "not happen this year."
“The club has worked very hard behind the scenes to try and make it happen, but it’s not going to be happening.
“I spoke to the boy, I enjoyed his company as a football guy, he understood the situation and percentage wise it proved very difficult for us to get a work permit for him.
“It could have taken five, six or seven weeks which would have taken a lot of games out. Whether we address that later on we will wait and see,” said Mowbray.
