Reinstate deposed Edo monarch now, PDP tells Obaseki
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja, on Sunday, by its national publicity secretary, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, the party urged “all well meaning Nigerians to prevail on Godwin Obaseki, the newly sworn in governor of the state, to reverse this deposition by restoring the monarch to his original position.”
The party declared that the monarch, who until his deposition was the paramount ruler of Uromi, was ostensibly deposed for supporting Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, its candidate at the recently concluded Edo gubernatorial election.
“The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria empowers all Nigerian citizens to support, associate with and be affiliated to any political party and candidate of their choice.
“We, therefore, urge Nigerians to prevail on APC at various national and state levels to refrain from destroying institutions and individuals who exercise their constitutional rights and freedoms,” the party said.
